What is EdHelfy?

EdHelfy is a modern school and institution management platform. It helps you manage students, attendance, fees, academics, timetables, inventory, and teacher records — all from one place, on any device.

Our tagline: Less Admin. More Education.

Can I just ask the AI assistant to do things?

Yes. Every tab has an Ask AI bar at the top. Type what you want in plain English — "add Priya to class 5B", "mark Aisha absent today", "show students who owe over ₹5000", "generate report card for Rahul". The AI proposes an action card; you confirm it before anything changes.

You can also tap the paperclip to upload a fee receipt, report card, or admission form — the AI extracts the data and drafts the matching action for you.

Full guide: AI Assistant manual.

How do I take attendance for a whole class in one tap?
  1. Open the Attendance tab.
  2. Pick the class / section / date.
  3. Use All Present (one tap) and then flip individual students to A / L as needed.

Or ask the AI: "mark class 5B all present today".

How do AI follow-ups work?

When you complete certain AI actions, EdHelfy offers a smart follow-up — e.g. after add_student, you’ll see “Print ID Card?”; after update_marks, “Generate Report Card?”; after mark fee paid, “Send WhatsApp receipt?”

Just tap the follow-up button — no extra typing needed.

Does EdHelfy work offline?

Yes. EdHelfy is an offline-first progressive web app (PWA). You can take attendance, add students, record fees, or view records with no internet connection — changes sync automatically the moment you’re back online.

If the sync indicator in the top bar shows a grey dot, you’re offline; a green dot means fully synced with the cloud.

How do I add my first student?
  1. Open the Students tab from the sidebar.
  2. Click the + Add Student button (top-right on desktop, floating button on mobile).
  3. Fill in at least Name, Class, and Section. Other fields are optional.
  4. Save. Your student appears in the list and is synced to the cloud.

You can also bulk-import students from a CSV via Settings → Import / Export.

How do I record a fee payment?
  1. Open the Fees tab.
  2. Click + Add Fee and pick the student, fee type, and amount. Save.
  3. When the parent pays, select the row and click ✓ Paid. A receipt is generated automatically.

Or ask the AI: "Priya paid ₹2000 tuition for April".

Can teachers and parents have their own logins?

Yes. As an admin, go to Settings → Team Management → Manage Team and invite team members by email. Each invite specifies a role — Teacher, Accountant, or Parent — with permissions scoped appropriately.

Parents can see their own child’s records only; teachers see the classes assigned to them; accountants see fee data.

How is my data protected?
  • In transit: TLS encryption on every connection.
  • At rest (cloud): strong server-side access controls scope every query to your school; one school cannot see another’s data, ever.
  • At rest (device): sensitive fields (student names, parent contacts) are encrypted locally using industry-standard authenticated encryption with a key derived from your password.
  • Passwords: hashed with a modern, industry-standard algorithm; never stored in plaintext.

See our Privacy Policy for full details.

What happens to my data if I delete my account?

All cloud data tied to your account is permanently removed within 30 days. Local browser data is cleared immediately.

Before deleting, you can export everything via Settings → Data & Backup → 📋 Download My Data — you get a JSON file with every student, fee, attendance record, and setting.

Where can I see if EdHelfy is having an outage?

Our status page shows live health checks for the core services, with links to any upstream cloud providers we rely on.

If you can’t reach the status page either, the problem is likely with the main edhelfy.com deployment. In that case, please wait a few minutes or email support@edhelfy.com — we’ll confirm once the incident is being worked on.
